Beau
Smith's whimsical frogs read to children, play music, lift weights,
practice golf, greet visitors, toast to happy occasions, and more.
Beau
Smith is a Renaissance artist. He is a sculptor, writer, singer/songwriter,
and painter. For the past 20 years, Smith has been a professional
sculptor of large, human-sized copper frogs. These frog sculptures
are similar to bronze frog sculpture. His work is in parks, gardens,
and other public places. He has exhibited his sculptures at the
Atlanta Botanical Gardens and in many galleries across the country
as well as abroad.
Smith
grew up in a family of artists. He painted, sculpted, played guitar
and wrote songs and stories from teenage years on. From his father,
Smith learned the craft of direct metal sculpture.
Smith pursued college and graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts
from Rhode Island School of Design where he studied film animation
and illustration. The experience was essential to developing his
artistic approach.
Following
his undergraduate education, he worked numerous jobs in graphic
arts while exhibiting his paintings and sculpture. Later, he began
making and selling the large human-sized copper frog sculptures
that his father originated.
